KadeFungin 3

What are the symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection?

Typical symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection with Candida albicans are burning, itching and redness in the genital area, as well as a white-yellowish to crumbly discharge.

What is KadeFungin 3 and what is it used for?

KadeFungin 3 is a medicinal product for the treatment of a vaginal yeast infection with the active ingredient clotrimazole, a broad-spectrum antifungal agent used for infections of the vagina and the external genital area caused by yeasts. The combination therapy consisting of a vaginal tablet and cream is primarily recommended for external use in the genital area. Treatment should be applied for three days in a row.

How long should a vaginal yeast infection be treated with KadeFungin 3?

Although symptoms of vaginal yeast infection are relieved by the treatment, they persist for at least three days despite therapy. A three-day treatment with KadeFungin 3 is usually enough. The vaginal tablet is inserted as deep as possible into the vagina, preferably in the evening. In addition, the cream is applied 3 times a day to the affected areas of the skin in the external genital area. If necessary, this 3-day treatment can be repeated.

Can KadeFungin 3 be used during menstruation?

KadeFungin 3 should not be used during menstruation. As menstrual blood flushes out the active ingredient, no optimal effect, i.e. successful treatment of vaginal mycosis, can be achieved. In addition, it can be assumed that vaginal yeast does not proliferate strongly during this time due to the predominantly low levels of oestrogen. Oestrogen stimulates the cells of the vaginal lining to produce glycogen, which the yeast requires as a nutrient in order to multiply. During menstruation, the amount of glycogen is insufficient. Likewise, the symptoms of vaginal yeast infection are less pronounced during menstruation. The 3-day therapy with KadeFungin® 3 Kombi should be applied after menstruation.

Can I have sexual intercourse during treatment with KadeFungin 3?

Sexual intercourse is possible but not recommended while using KadeFungin 3. The inflamed lining of the vagina is very sensitive. Swelling and redness of the vaginal lining and external genital organs can cause pain during urination and sexual intercourse. Likewise, the infection can be transmitted to the sexual partner during unprotected sexual intercourse. To avoid a potential new infection, it is recommended that the partner also be examined by a doctor and, if necessary, treated.

Does KadeFungin 3 affect the safety of condoms?

Yes, the safety of condoms is affected by the use of KadeFungin 3. The tear resistance of latex condoms is reduced. Tests on condom safety were carried out with latex condoms. Tests with condoms made of other materials are not available, but here, too, an impairment of safety can be assumed. Condoms can be used again safely 48 hours after the last application of KadeFungin 3.

Does KadeFungin 3 contain animal ingredients (vegan)?

KadeFungin 3 vaginal cream and KadeFungin 3 vaginal tablets do not contain any animal ingredients. However, KadeFungin 3 vaginal tablets contain lactose.

Can KadeFungin 3 be used during pregnancy?

KadeFungin 3 can be used to treat vaginal yeast infections during pregnancy. However, treatment during pregnancy should be carried out after a thorough risk-benefit assessment by the treating doctor. In addition, during pregnancy, the vaginal tablet should be inserted into the vagina without the applicator. Please consult your gynaecologist.

Can KadeFungin 3 be used in young girls (children)?

Taking into account the summary of product characteristics of KadeFungin 3, there is no age limit for application. However, a vaginal Candida albicans infection can only occur in presence of the female hormone oestrogen. Oestrogen-dependent cells of the vaginal lining produce glycogen. Yeast requires glycogen as a nutrient in order to multiply. For a yeast infection to develop, sufficient levels of oestrogen are usually only available shortly before the first menstruation. Most girls have their first menstrual period between 12 and 13 years of age. Vaginal yeast infections are therefore unlikely in children. Please consult a paediatrician. Likewise, young girls who experience symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection for the first time are advised to consult a gynaecologist.
